This was our first visit to the Harz Mountains. Haus Innerste is in a peaceful location with views over the valley and the pine trees. The photos on the internet are a good reflection of the reality. Although there was only the two of us there is certainly enough room for more people to stay – bedrooms and the living room are sizeable. The kitchen is modern with all facilities provided. Everything is superbly clean – dust doesn’t seem to exist in Germany !

Francien and Frank (who both speak perfect English) are very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed their company over a glass of wine. They were busy setting up their new Yoga centre in the village and invited us to the open day. They also said that a new holiday apartment above the Yoga centre, with views over the river, was on their agenda.

The area has plenty to offer with some lovely towns (Goslar, Wernigerode, Quedlinburg) and also some smaller places (Hahnenklee, Ilsenburg, Tresburg and the Thale valley, Burg Falkenstein) to visit. We did manage some walks in the woods where you hardly meet a soul – there are many well signposted walks for all levels.

If you’re not watching your weight try a Windbeutel (like a choux bun) or a Stachelbeerkuchen (gooseberry & meringue) at one of the cafes.

Thank you for our stay at Haus Innerste and good luck with your Yoga centre.
